Privacy Policy

Summary

Notion Vault backs up your Notion workspace to your local hard drive. Your data goes from Notion to your computer. We do not collect, store, transmit, or have access to your Notion content.

What Notion Vault does

Notion Vault is a Chrome extension that reads your Notion workspace using your existing browser session and writes backup files directly to a folder you choose on your computer. The extension runs entirely in your browser.

Data we do NOT collect

• Your Notion content (pages, databases, files, images)
• Your Notion session cookies or authentication tokens
• Your backup files or any data written to your hard drive
• Your name, email address, or Notion account information
• Browsing history or activity on any website

Data we DO collect

Notion Vault collects the minimum data necessary to operate:

• Backup metadata (stored locally in Chrome storage): last backup timestamp, page count, and backup schedule settings. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted.
• Payment status: if you purchase the unlimited tier, your license status is managed by our payment provider (ExtensionPay / Stripe). This involves your email address and payment information, handled entirely by the payment provider. We do not store your payment details.

How the extension accesses Notion

Notion Vault uses your existing Notion browser session (cookies) to read your workspace through the same endpoints the Notion web app uses. The extension only activates on notion.so. It does not read cookies from any other website. Your session cookies are used locally within your browser and are never transmitted to us or any third party.

Permissions explained

• Host permission (notion.so): required to read your Notion workspace content for backup.
• Cookies (notion.so): required to authenticate requests using your existing Notion session.
• Storage: required to save backup metadata (timestamps, settings) locally in Chrome.
• Alarms: required for scheduled auto-backups.
• Downloads: required to save the backup zip file to your computer.

Third-party services

• ExtensionPay / Stripe: processes payments for the unlimited tier. Subject to Stripe's privacy policy.

No analytics, tracking, or telemetry is included in the extension.

Data retention

Backup metadata stored in Chrome storage persists until you uninstall the extension or clear Chrome's extension data. Your backup files on your hard drive are yours — we have no access to them and no ability to delete them.

Children's privacy

Notion Vault is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "last updated" date. Material changes will be noted in the Chrome Web Store listing.
